Project Facts
- San Diego County Water Authority
- San Diego County, CA
- 200+ acres of habitat maintenance
- Project Length: 2009-2020

The Challenge
HRS manages and maintains over 200 acres of habitat at various project sites owned by the Water Authority. Our services include: grading, BMP installation and removal, irrigation installation, planting, hydroseeding, brush clearance, and trash/debris removal. Biological monitors help oversee the work to ensure existing native plants and wildlife species are protected and that the work is meeting the Agency success criteria. Maintenance tasks are issued by the client by Task Order.

The Solution
HRS’s project manager provides written work plans for maintaining restored and/or naturally recruiting habitat to the Water Authority and with their approval, the various work is implemented as needed to meet the performance standards. The work plan includes a map of the work area, equipment to be used, water source needs, maintenance methods, cost estimate and schedule. Daily logs are kept by HRS to record all observations including a list of dominant weed species, site photos, and an assessment of the habitat quality, recommendations and follow-up discussions.
